Our approach

Tailored programmes, informed by best practice, delivered through flexible engagements.

At SCS we believe that best practice frameworks can provide something to nearly all organisations that have got beyond the first chaotic start-up phases. Most organisations also need to be pragmatic, and SCS can help teams target best practice through a tailored approach which makes evolutionary improvements.

SCS technology projects are informed by best practice methodologies. Our consultants are certified Prince2 Programme Management and TOGAF Enterprise Architecture professionals. As appropriate, or as clients demand, we may use some or all of other methodologies. We prefer iterative methodologies such as RUP or Agile, as we believe these are more realistic propositions for the majority of fast moving commercial objectives.

Working with any client we seek to follow through a series of activities to ensure the needs of both our client and their customers is met.

  • Understand the business strategy and commercial objectives, and support with feasibility studies
  • Align the needs of stakeholders, and leaders, and build governance processes if needed
  • Define the capabilities appropriate for the business phases, and build business cases where necessary
  • Configure functional and technical maps, and source software to deliver
  • Identify organisational impacts, suppliers or other partners
  • Construct transformation programmes for both business and technology
  • Deliver and measure the benefits

Specifically for business continuity proejcts we work with a business continuity management methodology built around the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) best practice lifecycle. Helen Sweet was a contributor to the BCI process that defined this lifecycle so is exceptionally well placed to advise on its application within individual organisations.
